Sample Projects

Exploring project work in the classroom is an excellent way to learn about and enhance the use of the Project Approach, a form of project-based teaching and learning. The projects presented here are organized by grade level, with many incorporating local resources and surroundings, utilizing technology purposefully, addressing environmental awareness, and aligning with best practices in 21st-century education.

We encourage you to examine the links below, while also noting that the most effective projects stem from student interests and needs, and cannot simply be replicated in another classroom.

As you review the examples, consider exploring projects beyond your specific grade level. Although the content, activities, and skills vary, the fundamental goal—engaging students in active and meaningful learning experiences—remains consistent across all projects, regardless of age. Additionally, you may discover useful strategies and tools employed by educators in different grade levels. For example, one high school teacher learned about an innovative technology platform, iEarn Collaboration Centre, from a project-based second-grade teacher. This platform facilitates global connections for students, potentially enhancing project work across all grade levels.
